Shielded wire, also known as shielded cable or screened cable, is a type of electrical cable used to transmit signals while minimizing electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI) from external sources. It consists of one or more conductors, which carry the electrical signals, surrounded by a metallic foil or a braided wire mesh shield.

The primary purpose of the shield is to protect the signals carried by the conductors from external electromagnetic fields. These fields can originate from nearby electrical devices, power cables, motors, or radiofrequency signals, and they have the potential to induce unwanted noise or interference in the signal-carrying conductors. By enclosing the conductors in a conductive shield, the majority of the external electromagnetic fields are redirected or absorbed, preventing their interference with the signals inside the cable.

Shielded cables are frequently used in applications where signal integrity is critical, such as audio and video transmission, computer networking, telecommunications, industrial automation, and medical equipment. However, shielded cables are often more expensive and bulkier than unshielded cables, so they are typically utilized when the benefits of reduced interference outweigh the additional cost and size considerations.

The size of Shielded wire can be customized according to specific requirements. The common wire diameter ranges from 0.1  to 0.5 mm. The aperture sizes include 1×2 mm, 1×1 mm,, and other custom sizes are also available. The width ranges from 5 mm to 18 mm, and the coil length can be determined based on needs.
